Gloucester

Gloucester Cathedral is impressive in many ways; for its long history, as the burial place of kings and architecturally. In recent years, it has become celebrated as a Harry Potter movie location (in fact purists should note that filming took place in the attached cloisters, not strictly speaking within the cathedral).

Flagship National Trust garden in the North Cotswolds. For what is considered to be one of the most influential and important English gardens, it's only fair to remember that it was pioneered by Lawrence Johnston (an American) and his mother.

Highgrove Garden has increasingly opened up to visitors in recent years. The initial appeal may be curiosity about an opportunity to view what is The Prince of Wales’ own garden, but this is an appealing garden in its own right.

Visiting Kelmscott Manor is an atmospheric experience. Leave your car in the village, on one of the few days of the week when the Manor is open (Wednesday or Saturday) to walk to William Morris’s home. You’ll pass cottages, barns and meadows, and experience some ‘old’ Cotswolds.
