First thing - don’t head to Bourton-on-the-Water to see Bourton House Garden. The garden is at the bottom of the single street village called Bourton on the Hill, which is about 12 miles away from the other Bourton. Bourton on the Hill is near Moreton in Marsh, near Batsford Arboretum.

Broadway Tower

Historic and impressive folly overlooking the town of Broadway. Cafe, museum, shop and, er, nuclear bunker.

You can easily drive to Broadway Tower, but if you have a little more time, there’s an excellent circular walk from Broadway up to the Tower. It will probably take a half-day, including some time to look around the Tower (you can go inside) and take in a remarkable view which extends over several counties.

Chedworth Roman Villa

Chedworth Roman Villa is one of Britain’s grandest, a legacy of the last century of Roman government, before the Brito-Roman era ended. Although, older, the building was enhanced especially in the 4th Century. It was a substantial villa, even amongst an estimated 50 villas in the Cotswolds.
