Charlton Park, Wiltshire
WOMAD prides itself on its eclectic, multinational line up, with a more relaxed atmosphere than many other Festivals. The first event was in 1982 pioneered by Peter Gabriel. These days its a large scale festival of music, food, dance and art. People who like WOMAD tend to really like it.
The event is very family friendly.
Mainstream music fans tend to be unfamiliar with much of the lineup, so it helps to be musically open minded. 2018 includes Leftfield, Django Django, Ken Boothe, Thievery Corporation and a DJ set from Goldie. Fans of live drumming and jangly afro guitar riffs are rarely disappointed.
Tickets are usually available up to the last minute - it’s a big site venue.
