Cheltenham Cricket Festival
2018 Dates July 16th to 27th
County Cricket in a College Setting
This event has a strong following, with over 25,000 cricket lovers heading to town over the two week period. The setting is Cheltenham College and the event has been held here for over 140 years, making it the longest-running Cricket Festival of its type. W.G Grace played here many times, the teams heading off to the nearby Plough Hotel for a banquet afterwards. He scored his last centiru for Gloucestershire here, age 50.
2018 sees the first appearance by a woman’s team, Western Storm on Thursday 26th. Men’s fixtures are Gloucestershire v Sussex, Glos v Essex and Glos v Durham. The festival closes with a Vitality T20 Blast Fixture v Glamorgan.
This is cricket in a charming setting, with a relaxed atmosphere (off pitch at least).
