TETBURY is a buzzy, popular market town with interesting shops, Royal connections and a long history. It is dominated by impressive merchants' houses and a pillared market house. Despite its many charms Tetbury is less visited by tourists than some other towns and has an authentic, everyday, working atmosphere.
Tetbury tips from the hotel
In medieval times Tetbury became an important market for Cotswold wool. This is celebrated in the Tetbury Woolsack Races, an annual competition where participants carry a 60-pound (27kg) sack of wool up and down the steep Gumstool Hill.
Head outdoors to enjoy our own acres of gardens, nearby Westonbirt Arboretum, or watch some polo at Cirencester Park or Beaufort, both welcoming clubs. Polo makes for great people-watching, with the chance of some celeb or royalty spotting.
Tetbury is quite close to Bath, making the city an easy day trip.
