THE VILLAGE is close to Bibury and Cirencester, Fairford and some of the best open Cotswold country. According to the season, expect to see wild flowers, hares and spectacular leaf colour.
Barnsley tips from the Inn
Some of the best walks locally are alongside the slowly winding River Coln.
Barnsley Festival, held in May includes a rare chance to visit the gardens of Barnsley Park, Barnsley Arboretum and Barnsley House (our posher sister hotel nearby in the village).
Paddock Farm, just at the bottom of the road, provides our butcher's cuts. Our bacon jam is a real crowd-pleaser and our veg is from Barnsley House's plot.
Nearby Cirencester is an interesting place. It's the spiritual capital of old-money Cotswolds with an impressive Roman history and, these days, tempting arts and crafts shops.
Planning a celebration? Ask about our lovely (and rather hefty) party table, located right by Chef's kitchen.
