MORETON-IN-MARSH Direct rail services to London put Moreton within easy reach. Once here, you’ll find a buzzy, wide High Street and The Manor House itself, one of the town’s finest buildings. Step inside a traditional honey-colour frontage to find cool interiors and hidden, peaceful gardens... you’d really never know you were on a Cotswold High Street.

Moreton-in-Marsh tips from the hotel

Check what’s on at the Redesdale Hall – it’s good for occasional antique and flea markets. Just before you depart visit the Cotswold Cheese Shop (just over the road) to buy some cheese to take home.

In the summer take the short drive over to Snowshill Lavender, for a taste of Provence in the Cotswolds. Combine a visit with the National Trust’s Snowshill Manor which contains Charles Wade’s bizarre and wonderful collection of objects from around the world.

Apple Cottage is a cosy, contemporary accommodation option within the hotel grounds – our little retreat for two, complete with its own garden and a hot tub for unwinding. We’re definitely located in the Cotswolds, but Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle or the National Trust’s Upton House are each within easy reach. Attractions such as Bourton House Garden, Chastleton House and Batsford Arboretum are minutes away.

Walk: Around Atsford

3.5 miles (6km) | 2 hours
A pleasant circular walk, with views of deer (probably) and eagles (possibly). Plus the chance to see where raindrops decide whether to flow into the Bristol Channel or the North Sea. The route passes a fine farm shop at Old Farm in Dorn.
